Core Functionality
MB-5 Dynamix integrates a streamlined version of Blue Cat’s Dynamics engine into a five-band processor. Each band can independently act as a compressor, gate, expander, limiter, or waveshaper, and multiple modes can be combined within a single band. Crossover filters range from 6 to 60 dB per octave, allowing precise spectral separation for tasks like de-essing or bass control.
A dry/wet control enables parallel processing, often called New York compression, while a post brickwall limiter or clipper protects the output. The processor operates in stereo or mid-side mode with flexible channel linking, giving you detailed command over the dynamics of the signal across the frequency spectrum.
Envelope Routing and Side-Chain
A standout feature is the envelope routing system. The dynamics response of one band can be triggered by the envelope of another band, creating cross-band effects such as ducking a high-frequency element when a low-frequency kick hits. This internal side-chain eliminates the need for external routing in many scenarios.
Beyond internal routing, the plug-in can output MIDI CC messages or automation curves based on the dynamics processing. This allows you to control other plug-ins in your chain, enabling advanced side-chain compression, gating, or signal-dependent effects that respond to the audio in real time.

A global presets manager, undo/redo, and system clipboard support for copying plug-in states between instances streamline session work.
