Purpose and Concept
Fundamental Bass addresses the classic mixing challenge of controlling bass dynamics without losing liveliness. The plugin splits incoming audio into low and high frequency bands at an adjustable crossover. Each band is processed separately, allowing you to apply different compression, saturation, and stereo imaging to the low end versus the mids and highs.
This approach ensures the low end is tightly controlled for a solid foundation while preserving the snap and sparkle of the upper frequencies. The colored interface—green for low, yellow for high—makes it clear which range you are adjusting. Separate on/off buttons, gain sliders, and mix ratio dials per module provide flexible routing and parallel processing.
Key Capabilities
The low module features two compressors: Balance, which offers up to -60dB attenuation with automatic make-up gain, and Flatten, a more aggressive compressor for evening out very dynamic bass. The high module includes Balance for gentle compression and Drive, which adds tube-style saturation at low levels and full-on distortion when pushed harder. This can add grit and sparkle to enhance natural harmonics.
Independent stereo imaging sliders let you collapse the low band to mono for better kick integration while keeping the high band in stereo for width. High and low pass filter handles allow you to carve out frequency space, such as clearing room for the kick by setting a high pass filter on the bass.

The interface provides a live frequency display showing real-time signal changes, with green and yellow meters corresponding to the low and high modules. This visual feedback helps you dial in settings precisely. The output level slider and pop-free bypass make it easy to A/B compare processed and unprocessed audio.
