Bronze Bin — Free Download
Bronze Bin is a metallic percussion library from Soundiron featuring tuned and untuned sounds from a bronze receptacle, plus a Chrome Can, with deep Kontakt shaping controls.

Purpose and Source
Bronze Bin is a metallic percussion library built from recordings of a common bronze refuse bin, chosen for its rich tonal character. The source object produces a wide range of sounds, from soft bell-like tones to raspy, complex washes of harmonics and overtones, including undertones. The creators recorded both tuned and untuned percussion elements using fingers, mallets, and sticks across various surfaces like edges, rims, and bottoms.
Version 3.0 adds a second source instrument, the Chrome Can, sampled with mallets and sticks across articulations such as mallet side, stick rim, and mallet bottom. This companion expands the palette, offering complementary metallic textures. The library is designed for the full retail version of Kontakt and is open-format, meaning the sample directories are unlocked for use in other software.
Key Capabilities
The Kontakt interface provides automation-ready sound-shaping controls, including swell, attack, release, offset, vibrato, filter, pitch (coarse and fine), articulation switching, cross-fading, and layering. An adaptable LFO system offers selectable shapes, modulation targets, speed, intensity, tempo-syncing, and fade-in time. Users can apply twelve low-pass, high-pass, and FX filters with assignable modulation sources like velocity, mod wheel, expression, aftertouch, key position, and step-sequencer control.
A customizable arpeggiator provides velocity table, direction, timing, swing, randomization, and duration controls. A key and scale lock system constrains notes to common scales for easier melodic work. The modular FX rack includes eighteen DSP modules assignable to ten slots in any order, with classics like phaser, flanger, delay, distortion, amp and cab simulators, compressor, EQ, and rotator.
Workflow and Interface
This library is presented as a single master NKI instrument bank in open Kontakt format, containing hundreds of stereo samples. The interface is designed for flexible control, allowing users to shape sounds through layered articulations and real-time parameter adjustments. All controls are automation-ready in host environments or Kontakt’s standalone mode, making it suitable for detailed sound design and performance.
The FX rack includes factory chain presets to provide starting points, and the included custom sound-designed FX and ambient presets offer immediate creative options. Since the library is open-format, users can access the unlocked wav samples and Kontakt presets for further customization in other compatible software. A suite of ambiences and pads derived from the source material extends the tonal range beyond direct percussion hits.
Practical Applications
Bronze Bin is well-suited for experimental music, sound design, and film scoring, where unconventional percussion can add character. Its dual nature as both tuned and untuned source allows for melodic bell-like passages as well as noise-based textures. The combination of mallets, sticks, and fingers across multiple surfaces provides a broad articulation palette for crafting rhythmic patterns.
The Chrome Can complements the bronze bin, offering a distinct metal voice for contrasting sections. The built-in ambiences and drones are useful for atmospheric backgrounds, while the arpeggiator and scale lock assist in creating melodic or rhythmic sequences. The effects rack and convolution reverb enable transformation from dry percussion to expansive, processed sounds, making the library adaptable for mainstream or avant-garde productions.
