Hybrid Synth Core
Predator 3 is the successor to a legendary synth, blending analog-style character with wavetable flexibility. The instrument includes three oscillators with sub-oscillators, offering subtractive analog waveforms, additive spectra, user-definable spectrum waves, and dynamic morphing. A spread feature detunes within each oscillator, while diverse routing options feed two analog-modeled filters with 38 types and pre-filter distortion.
The GUI has been redesigned for direct access to main controls, available in three sizes with animated dials. Analog-modeled sound code from B.I.T. enhances audio quality for both analog and hybrid wavetable patches, making the synth suitable for contemporary genres. Over 6500 presets ship across banks, organized by version, providing a broad starting palette.
Modulation and Envelopes
Predator 3 introduces multi-stage envelopes (up to 15 stages) with curve control, loop points, and tempo sync, alongside standard four envelopes and dedicated filter envelopes. An audio follower with 11 inputs, including side-chain input, allows external audio to drive modulation with adjustable threshold, boost, and smoothing.
Four LFOs plus pitch and filter LFOs offer multiple waveforms, including user waves, with poly/mono/free modes and velocity, keyboard, and random speed control. A 20-slot modulation matrix includes advanced settings for offset and upper/lower thresholds, enabling complex sound design. An XY pad with recordable motion and four destinations per axis adds a performance-oriented modulation source.
Arpeggiator and Effects
Predator 3’s arpeggiator has been significantly expanded, featuring four independent arp sections (A-D) with up to 16 steps each. Step functions include tie, slide, tune, velocity, length, offset, and ratchet. Play modes allow combining arps, plus chord, sequencer, and modulating modes, with MIDI out supported by the host.
The amp section provides velocity control, pan, and an EQ mixing preset menu. Effectivity includes 11 distortion modes. A pre-EQ and post-EQ each offer three bands with frequency, Q, and gain, plus high-pass and low-pass filters. A guard band is placed here.
Play Modes and Workflow
Play modes include poly, mono, legato, arp, and poly MPE, with per-preset pitch bend range from -48 to +48 semitones. Chord memory stores up to eight notes with individual panning and velocity adjustment. Advanced envelope settings shape attack and decay curves, plus analog drift for organic variation.
A preset morph feature blends two patches into a new sound, while an intelligent variation generator creates fresh presets from existing ones. The streamlined interface and bank organization accelerate sound browsing, making Predator 3 a practical tool for live performance and studio sessions.
