Veevum Beat is a rhythmic instrument for creating, randomizing, and mangling drum and percussion loops, using a honeycomb interface and generative playing modes for ambient and cinematic music.

Veevum Beat

Purpose and Sound Sources

Veevum Beat is a drum and percussion loop instrument designed to help producers generate unique rhythmic beds quickly. Instead of browsing endless lists of named sounds, its honeycomb interface encourages ear-based selection. The instrument contains a large collection of drums and percussion loops, ranging from acoustic to heavily effected sounds.

Sound sources are organized into a beehive display of hexagons, each containing multiple loop variations across several tracks. You can select these sources manually or use randomization to discover new combinations. The sources can also be filtered by categories per instrument, helping you narrow down to a specific mood or style.

Playing Modes and Randomization

Veevum Beat offers several playing modes that shape how the selected sound sources are triggered. In Random mode, each played note selects a different source, creating unpredictable variations. Stack mode plays all chosen sources together, either as a full stack or spread across the keyboard for performance. Full Stack also includes a curve mode where individual volume LFOs crossfade between sources to build evolving textures.

The randomization extends beyond sound selection. You can randomize the entire patch, including effects, portamento, and unison, making it easy to generate fresh rhythmic ideas. The automatic storage of randomized results means you can quickly cycle through alternatives and commit to one with a single key press.

Arpeggiator and Effects

The built-in arpeggiator works in conjunction with Random mode to produce sequences of notes, each triggering a different sound, which is ideal for creating rhythmic patterns that evolve over time. Step effects for volume and filter let you shape the dynamics and tone of the rhythm in a pattern-based way.

A convolution effect is included, with unique impulse responses that can dramatically change the character of the loops. The Random FX feature applies a special convolver to specific notes, adding another layer of unpredictability. Additional effects such as delay, reverb, phaser, and rotator are also available, along with a volume AHDSR envelope that can be set per sound or per patch.

Workflow and Applications

Veevum Beat is designed for a fluid, ear-driven workflow. You can quickly build a rhythm bed by selecting a few sound sources, then use the playing modes to alternate between random and stacked triggering. The randomization features let you explore unexpected combinations, while the automatic storage means you never lose a good idea.

This instrument is particularly suited for ambient producers and cinematic composers who need evolving, textural percussion. The ability to crossfade between loops with LFOs and apply random effects makes it easy to create pads out of rhythms, or to generate subtle, shifting grooves. The arpeggiator and step effects afford precise control when you need a more structured pattern, while the random function keeps things fresh.

Key features

  • Honeycomb-style interface with ear-based navigation
  • Randomization of sound sources and entire patches
  • Playing modes: Random, Stack (full/spread), and Stack Curve
  • Arpeggiator with random triggering of sources
  • Step volume and filter effects
  • Convolver with unique impulse responses, including per-note Random FX
  • Portamento, up to six-voice unison, pitch LFOs, and volume AHDSR per sound or patch

Best for

Best for ambient and cinematic producers who want quick, ear-driven ways to generate evolving drum and percussion rhythms with randomization and stacking, rather than searching through sound names or manually sequencing every hit.
