Tekno — Free Download
Create massive synthesized drum sounds from scratch with 18 analog-modeled drum engines, a built-in sequencer for unpredictable beats, and onboard effects for instant, tweakable production.

Purpose and Core Capabilities
Tekno is a drum synthesizer that generates electronic drum sounds from the ground up, avoiding sample playback entirely. It offers 18 fully synthesized drum engines covering kicks, snares, claps, hats, and percussion, all built with analog circuit modeling to deliver punch and warmth. This design lets you craft unique kits that fit any genre, with total control over each sound.
The plugin’s synthesis engine is based on non-linear virtual analog circuits, ensuring that every hit is subtly unique, like classic analog machines. This means your drum patterns feel alive rather than static. You can also exaggerate this behavior with humanize parameters that add variation in timbre, velocity, and timing for each triggered sound.
Sequencer and Creativity Tools
The built-in sequencer in version 1.1 is designed for fast beat creation and optional unpredictability. Use smart randomization, auto-fill, and quick on/off and velocity controls to generate new beat ideas instantly. For evolving patterns, set variable step lengths and lane speeds to create polyrhythms, and assign chance values to add randomness.
This makes Tekno a creative tool for generating sequences that never repeat. You can drag and drop any sequence as a MIDI file into your DAW for further editing. Alternatively, you can sequence Tekno directly via MIDI, or drag and drop individual sounds into any DAW or folder for external sequencing flexibility.
Workflow and Sound Design
Tekno offers multiple ways to work, whether you want instant inspiration or deep sound design. Click the Gear icons next to any synth voice or effect section to access detailed calibration and circuit-bending options. For a quick start, use the Dice icons to have the smart random algorithm generate new drum sounds with each click.
To help you begin, there are 73 global presets and 1,314 individual voice presets crafted by sound designers like Richard Devine, Mr. Bill, Virtual Riot, and Yoad Nevo. This variety lets you explore different styles or reshape them to suit your track, making Tekno flexible for both quick sketches and detailed tweaking.
Effects and Integration
Tekno’s onboard effects are unique to the instrument, not generic copies. They include analog-modeled tape saturation, excitation, and compression to beef up individual drums, plus a punchy limiter and clipper combination for the whole kit. This suite helps drums cut through a mix without additional processing.
For integration, Tekno is designed to work as a plugin in a DAW, but you can also sequence it externally via MIDI or export sounds as audio files. This flexibility allows you to use it in various production setups, whether you prefer working inside the box or with external hardware sequencers.
