Purpose and Scope
The pack delivers a comprehensive metal guitar toolkit built around modern production needs. It offers four amplifier models, each tuned for a distinct metal style, from Teutonic rhythm crunch to low-tuned djent aggression. Two signature cabinets and a set of impulse responses provide a solid foundation for high-gain tones.
A broad effects suite covers everything from clean dynamic picking to heavily processed soundscapes. The included presets recreate the signature sounds of Andrey Smirnoff. You can use the pack as an expansion for an existing THU Premium license, or as a standalone product that includes the core THU features like the Rig Player, Amp Tweaks, Tuner and Looper.
Key Features
Four amplifiers are designed for different metal contexts. The German Metal Machine emulates the tone of classic German albums for heavy rhythms and leads. The Modern Metal Beast targets modern metal and djent with high attack and low-tuning support. The ENG-100 and EPI-100 offer classic heavy metal and unique modded options, with controls like the hf drive for added aggression.
The effect collection includes a Multiband Compressor for palm-muting clarity, the Atmosphere reverb for wide intros, and the Space Machine for stereo depth without reverb. Effects like Micropitch, Octaver, Whammy and Wah cover modulation and pitch needs. A separate clean amp model adds dynamic sharpness for contrast.
Cabinet Simulation and Tweaking
The cabinet module uses a 3D simulation with a microphone matrix, letting you position mics in space, change angles, and pan them across the stereo field. Fluid Convolution allows seamless mic movement and long impulses for realistic response. A double IR loader enables mixing external impulses with the internal cabinet mics.
ReSPiRe 2 technology offers two response modes: a natural cabinet response or a mix-ready processed version. You can select from six room types and eighteen microphone models. The Amp Tweaks panel supports swapping preamp and power tube models and simulating variac voltage effects, opening many tonal variations without external hardware.
Workflow and Control
The Rig Player simplifies tone navigation, and the Amp Tweaks panel lets you experiment with tube replacements and variac simulation for custom amp behavior. The tuner and looper are integrated for practice and composition. MIDI control is straightforward: click any element in the interface, press a pedal on a connected floorboard, and THU learns the assignment for instant recall in any preset.
Practical applications include tracking rhythm guitars with tight palm-muting, crafting leads with sustained harmonics, and building ambient intros with the Atmosphere and Space Machine. The presets cover a range of modern metal subgenres, from classic heavy to progressive djent, and are ready for direct use in home studios or live setups.
