Harrison Legacy EQ — Free Download
Harrison Legacy EQ is a plugin emulating the classic MPC digital equalizer, offering five parametric bands, two filter bands, and a real-time analyzer for precise, musical mixing.

Purpose and Character
The Legacy EQ by Harrison recreates the sound of the classic MPC digital equalizer, originally designed as an analog circuit with digital control. It became a staple in high-end post-production and film studios, valued for its smooth and precise control. This plugin brings that musical character to your mix, allowing you to shape tracks with warmth, sparkle, punch, or clarity.
Each band’s frequency range is carefully limited to match the original analog knob, and the Q factor is optimized for each frequency to deliver the best results. The result is an intuitive, flexible EQ that simplifies achieving professional sound quality without complicated adjustments.
EQ Bands and Shapes
The plugin features five parametric EQ bands and two filter bands, each with selectable shapes. For the EQ bands, you can choose from six shapes including bell, low/high shelf, low/high cut, notch, and band-pass. This allows you to boost lows, cut highs, notch out problem frequencies, or create filter sweeps, with adjustable gain and Q width from wide to narrow.
The two filter bands offer four shapes each, with steeper slopes for more powerful filtering. A wide notch shape affects a broader range, making frequency tuning easier, while band-pass and notch shapes with adjustable Q help isolate or remove specific frequencies. This flexibility supports precise tonal shaping.
Main Display and Analyzer
The comprehensive main display graph provides a visual interface for shaping your sound. You can drag a band’s icon to set frequency and gain, and use the mouse-wheel or two-finger drag to adjust the Q. A high-quality, fast RTA analyzer is built in, which you can switch to be pre- or post-EQ, helping you monitor the effect of your adjustments.
The analyzer displays the full resolution of the bass and sub-bass spectrum without loss of detail, allowing fine-tuning of the low end for a balanced and powerful mix. You can adjust the speed and trim of the display to suit your signal, making it a reliable tool for critical listening.
Workflow and Application
In practice, the Legacy EQ streamlines mixing and post-production tasks. For dialogue or music, you can quickly find and reduce resonant frequencies using the notch shape, or add air with a high shelf. The filter bands are useful for cleaning up low-end rumble or creating special effects. The pre/post analyzer helps verify your changes.
The limited frequency ranges per band mimic analog behavior, guiding you toward musical settings. This makes it suitable for both corrective and creative equalization across individual tracks, buses, or full mixes, especially where precision and a smooth character are required.
