Clarix LB is a live broadcast-focused AI noise reduction plugin that cleans ambient noise in real-time voice and dialogue signals, featuring low latency, a simple single-knob balance, and compatibility with SoundGrid systems.

Clarix LB

Purpose

Clarix LB applies neural-network-based noise reduction to live broadcasts and streams, addressing environmental noise in voice and dialogue. It is designed for on-location anchors, reporters, live-streamed services, or any voice capture where clean audio is critical. The plugin runs on the Waves SoundGrid platform, enabling integration into broadcast workflows.

The AI engine derives from the same Emmy-winning Waves Neural Networks used in studio noise reduction, but optimized for real-time operation. This makes it suitable for scenarios where editing after the fact is impossible. Clarix LB prioritizes voice articulation and intelligibility, not general music or ambient field recording.

Key Capabilities

A single knob controls the voice-to-noise balance, simplifying operation during a broadcast. The large interface supports ease of use in control rooms where quick adjustments are needed. Support for up to 96 kHz sampling rates covers modern broadcast standards, and a ‘double’ analysis mode with width control helps with stereo sources.

Clarix LB has a fixed 47 ms latency, marketed for live broadcast and streaming, not for in-venue concert monitoring. The plugin requires a Waves Titan SoundGrid server to run, which provides the needed processing power. It works with SuperRack SoundGrid, SuperRack LiveBox, or eMotion LV1 systems.

Workflow

In a standard broadcast chain, Clarix LB is inserted on a voice or dialogue input within a SuperRack SoundGrid environment. By connecting a Titan server, you allocate instances for real-time processing. The output is then routed to the main mix feed, ensuring cleaned audio goes live without the need for post-processing.

For live reporters, the plugin accepts a mono or stereo source from a microphone or wireless receiver, and the AI model automatically identifies and reduces steady background noise. The operator can adjust the noise reduction amount with the knob while monitoring the result. Assigning all Clarix LB instances to the same Titan server maintains stable performance.

Practical Applications

Clarix LB shines in outside broadcasts, where traffic, wind, or crowd noise can compromise spoken word. In streaming worship services, it helps keep sermons clear from room hum and chatter. For sports broadcasters, the plugin can reduce stadium ambience so commentator voices stand out.

For podcast or networked radio, it lets remote guests speak from imperfect rooms without harsh gating. Since it is not intended for live concert monitoring, it’s best kept to voice-only feeds. The 47 ms latency is acceptable for broadcast timing but not for in-ear monitors, so it should be reserved for transmission paths.

Key features

  • AI-powered noise reduction for voice and dialogue
  • Single-knob voice/noise balance control
  • Compatible with SoundGrid and SuperRack LiveBox
  • Supports up to 96 kHz sample rate
  • 47 ms latency suited for live broadcast
  • Double analysis and width control for stereo
  • Requires Waves Titan server for SoundGrid

Best for

Best for broadcast engineers, streaming producers, and remote reporters who need real-time voice clean-up in live feeds, accepting the required 47 ms latency and Titan server processing investment.
