DAG Alliance Fire Strings

Purpose

Fire Strings is a hybrid scoring and music production tool for cinematic composers and producers. It combines custom recorded electric violin and guitar samples with a powerful Kontakt engine to deliver a curated collection of over 140 cinematic sounds, including sustains, textures, and grooves. The library is designed to ignite creativity by providing expressive tonal material and rhythmic elements that can be shaped into evolving soundscapes or driving cue starters.

The sound set is organized into three main categories: Tonal, Risers, and Rhythmic. Tonal covers electric violin sustains and textures, from traditional tremolos to spectral scrubs, harmonics, and microtonal bends. Risers offer tension-building glissandos for climaxes, while Rhythmic provides tempo-synced guitar grooves mapped across octaves for easy transposition.

Key capabilities

Fire Strings features an advanced engine with two sound sources that can be rhythmically swapped or gradually modulated for evolving textures. Each sound includes 11 effects per source that can be controlled randomly or in positive/negative directions, plus 8 global send and insert effects. The sequencers provide advanced controls for speed, steps, direction, offset, fade-in, nudge, and loop, with copy/paste, randomization, and presets.

The interface offers a custom GUI with 129 snapshots and 60 custom impulse responses for convolution reverb. With over 800 samples and 6GB of content, the library is deep and versatile, but it requires the full version of Kontakt 5.7.3 or later. All rhythmic content is tempo-synced, making it easy to integrate into a cue.

Workflow

For composers, Fire Strings excels at building tension and rhythmic momentum. Start with a tonal sustain for atmosphere, layer a riser to build toward a climax, and switch to a rhythmic groove for action. The sequencers allow per-source control, so you can sync patterns to your DAW’s tempo and randomize or preset variations to keep things fresh.

Sound designers will appreciate the extensive modulation. Use the effects sequencers to automate filters, reverb, and other parameters in positive or negative directions. The ability to randomly generate effect settings provides quick inspiration, while global effects add cohesion. The included impulse responses let you place sounds in different spaces without external plugins.

Practical applications

This instrument suits cinematic scoring for film trailers, TV, and games, where hybrid textures and rhythmic pulses are common. It works well for action, suspense, or sci-fi cues, as the electric instruments carry an edgy tone. The tonal sustains can underscore emotional scenes, while risers create anticipation for transitions or hits.

In music production, Fire Strings can add unique layers to electronic, ambient, or rock tracks. The guitar grooves can serve as a rhythmic bed, while violin textures provide melodic interest. The transposability of grooves across octaves allows for easy chord changes, making it flexible for songwriting and arrangement.
