Adventure Strings — Free Download
A cinematic string library recorded on a scoring stage, featuring energetic shorts captured as repetition phrases for realistic, playable performances. Includes sustains, trills, tremolos, and ensemble patches.

Purpose and Design
Adventure Strings is a companion to Soaring Strings, crafted for composers needing robust, energetic short articulations that sit naturally in action-packed cues. Unlike typical libraries where shorts are recorded in isolation, this collection captures repetition phrases in quick succession at a set tempo, then edits each note into playable patches.
The library includes separate sections for violins, violas, cellos, and basses, with all players recorded on a scoring stage for mixing flexibility. Traditional seating positions are maintained, and the ensemble patches combine sections across the keyboard for a full-string sound. The design focuses on providing tools that match their intended musical context, reducing the need for extensive programming to make shorts sound convincing in fast passages.
Key Capabilities
Adventure Strings offers a variety of articulations beyond the short notes. Sustains are sampled across four dynamics, from soft to very loud, with expressive vibrato across the upper range. Trills, tremolos, and marcatos add texture, while the bass section includes a Bartok snap for percussive effects. A notable feature is the Morph Stacking programming, which allows any note length to sound natural, and the adjustable humanization control adds subtle variation to performances.
The library also includes a To Silence feature that supports niente dynamics, where notes fade to silence, ideal for delicate passages. Three microphone positions—close, room, and mixed—allow for direct or ambient mixes. The patches are designed to be playable and responsive, making them suitable for both sketching ideas and final productions. The keyboard-spanning full strings patches simplify creating bold, unified ensemble lines.
Workflow Integration
In a typical workflow, composers can load the adventure patches for quick, energetic motifs, then switch to sustains for lyrical lines. The separate sections allow for precise control over voicing, while the full strings patches serve as a quick layering tool. The humanization control is useful for adding organic feel to repeated notes, and the morph stacking ensures transitions between notes feel smooth, even at longer durations.
The library is designed for users of Native Instruments Kontakt, requiring the full retail version. It does not support the free Kontakt Player, so a full license is necessary. The three microphone positions can be blended to fit various mix contexts, from tight and close to spacious. The repetition-based recording approach means that fast passages are inherently coherent, saving time in editing and sequencing.
Practical Applications
Adventure Strings excels in cinematic scoring, particularly for action, adventure, and trailer music. The energetic shorts are ideal for rhythmic ostinatos, pulse-driving sequences, and dramatic accents. The sustains and trills support emotional builds and suspenseful sections. The library also works well for hybrid compositions when layered with electronic elements, providing a realistic orchestral foundation.
For media composers, the library simplifies creating believable fast string passages, which are often challenging to program. The ensemble patches are useful for quick mock-ups, while the individual sections allow for detailed arranging. The niente feature and dynamic range enable soft, ethereal textures as well. Whether for film, TV, or game soundtracks, Adventure Strings offers a practical toolset for adding dynamic string color to any project.
