Soundtrax Drop Pad 2 Rhythmic Edition — Free Download
Drop Pad 2 Rhythmic Edition is a Kontakt instrument for blending four samples via drag-and-drop, with XY morphing, per-pad filters, LFOs, effects, and tempo sync, focused on rhythmic sources.

Purpose and Concept
Drop Pad 2 Rhythmic Edition is a sample-based instrument for Kontakt that focuses on creating layered rhythmic textures. You load up to four of your own audio files onto pads, then use the XY pad to morph between them in real time. The bundled library supplies drums, beats, percussion, toppers, motions, sound effects, and arpeggios, making it easy to build complex rhythmic beds without extensive programming.
The instrument is designed for intuitive drag-and-drop operation, so you can quickly audition and swap samples. The XY morphing can be recorded, exported, and imported, allowing you to save and recall evolving movements. A dedicated Play button lets you audition loops from any window, streamlining the sound design workflow.
Key Capabilities
The Morph path can be further shaped with Warp functions, which modify the cursor’s trajectory and open up new rhythmic variations. An Isolate function lets you lock one or more pads, so their playback levels stay constant while others follow the morph. This is handy for keeping kick and snare patterns steady while toppers evolve.
Each pad has independent controls for pitch, envelope, pan, playback direction, loop, and sample start. The playback engine offers a classic Sampler mode and a TM Pro mode with tempo and speed settings for convenient tempo adjustment. The instrument uses MIR technology to detect tonal material during import and adjusts pitch automatically.
Modulation and Effects
The Modulation section provides three filters—low-pass, peak, and high-pass—each assignable to one or more pads. You can modulate filter settings with various LFO shapes, and the X and Y parameters of each pad’s cursor can be changed independently during playback. Pan and pitch modulation are also available, each with waveform choices.
Seven global effects are included: Reverb, Choral, Flair, Phasis, Overdrive, Compression, and Replika Delay. A special FX Warp pad lets you assign X and Y axes to effect parameters, with adjustable rate, shape, and tempo-synced speed. An EQ provides further tone shaping. Up to nine complete MOD or FX setups can be stored and recalled via preset buttons.
Workflow and Practical Use
The included 334MB library offers factory snapshots and samples across drums, beats, percussion, toppers, motions, FX, and arps. You can combine factory content to create your own snapshots or import your own samples for a personalized palette. An additional 123MB of waveform samples—basic waveforms, noise, timecode, turntable belt, electrical noise, and vinyl crackles—is also provided.
For practical use, Drop Pad shines in live performance and studio sessions where you need evolving rhythmic textures. You can build a beat by combining a steady kick and snare on locked pads while morphing toppers and FX across the XY pad. Tempo sync on samples and modulations keeps everything locked to your project, making it ideal for electronic genres.
