Analog Chorus Core

Syntorus 2 models a high-quality bucket brigade device delay line in the digital domain, avoiding digital artifacts while delivering a warm, musical sound. Unlike many chorus units that use a single delay, it implements three analog delay lines, enabling a richer and fuller chorus effect. The plugin includes two BBD models: a pristine default and an analog emulation mode that adds extra warmth and character.

Users have full control over delay line parameters, allowing precise sculpting of the sound. The design draws inspiration from classic synthesizers and effects, making it suitable for enriching a wide range of instruments, from synth basses to guitars.

Modulation and Synchronization

Three LFO generators serve as flexible modulation sources, routable to the delay lines through switchable topologies. Each LFO can be independently synchronized to the host DAW, with rates set in musical note values at the project tempo. Crucially, the phase is also synchronized to the playhead position, ensuring the chorus effect remains consistent throughout the timeline.

Independent left/right phase offset adjustment widens the creative possibilities. This synchronization makes Syntorus 2 particularly useful for tempo-synced music productions, where precise timing of modulation is essential.

Built-in Filter and Tremolo

Each delay line includes a multimode filter and a tremolo effect, both governed by the same modulation sources as the delay time. The filter is especially effective for emulating Leslie speaker sounds, particularly when combined with delay modulation to simulate the Doppler effect of a rotating speaker.

The tremolo can be used alone or added to the modulated delay line, creating dynamic sounds that work well on keyboards and guitars. This integration allows for complex modulation without the need for additional plugins, streamlining the workflow.

Workflow and Applications

Syntorus 2 is designed to enrich any instrument with analog-style movement and depth. It excels on synth basses and leads, adding life, and on guitars, providing lush chorus textures. The configurable modulation and filter/tremolo options make it a versatile tool for creative sound design, from subtle thickening to pronounced, animated effects.

Its DAW synchronization simplifies integration into existing projects, ensuring the chorus remains in sync with the musical arrangement. The plugin’s interface offers a suggested starting point, with the ability to save and load presets for efficient session recall.
