Sie-Q is Soundtoys’ first EQ, designed to capture the character of the rare Siemens W295b broadcast console module. The original hardware was noted for its smooth curves and user-friendly design, which inspired this plugin’s simple and effective layout. Its controls—High, Mid, Low, and Drive—are intended to let you shape tone quickly without getting bogged down in complex options.
As with other Soundtoys effects, Sie-Q also includes a modeled saturation circuit, accessible via the Drive knob. This lets you push the EQ to add tonal color and analog-style density to your tracks. The design aims to be forgiving, making it hard to dial in a bad sound, a trait inherited from the original hardware.
Key Capabilities
The standout feature of Sie-Q is its High band, which provides an airy and smooth top end. It’s described as adding space without harshness, making it suitable for vocals, acoustic guitars, and cymbals. The plugin can be used standalone or within Soundtoys Effect Rack. A suggested workflow is combining Sie-Q with Decapitator in the Effect Rack to cure mixes that sound too digital. The simple layout means it fits into any session where you need a fast, musical EQ adjustment.
