Voxengo Drumformer 1.5 — Free Download
A multiband dynamics processor for drums and master tracks, combining compressor-expander, saturation, gate, EQ, and clipper in broadband, 2-band, or 3-band modes.

Comprehensive Dynamics Suite
Drumformer is a multiband dynamics processor designed for drum and master track processing. It operates in broadband, 2-band, or 3-band modes, with each band offering a compressor-expander and a saturation module. The compressor is described as producing a tight, glued sound while emphasizing transients, suitable for cohesive drum mixes. The saturation module provides six smooth modes with different harmonic content, allowing tonal shaping without harshness.
A precise gate module with multi-faceted controls is included, particularly useful for multi-tracked drum kits. A built-in parametric equalizer and spectrum analyzer support frequency shaping and visual monitoring. The output clipper module enables artistic master clipping effects, adding character to the final mix. These tools together make Drumformer a broad solution for many dynamics processing tasks.
Flexible Routing and Processing
The plug-in supports stereo and multi-channel processing, with internal channel routing and channel grouping for managing complex setups. Mid/side processing is available, enabling independent control of mono and stereo components. External side-chain capability allows the dynamics to be keyed by an external signal, useful for ducking or rhythmic pumping effects.
Up to 8x oversampling and 64-bit floating point processing ensure high internal precision. The included real-time FFT spectrum analyzer provides visual feedback for both the input and processed signal. All sample rates are supported, with a compensated processing latency of 16 ms, making it suitable for mixing and mastering contexts where latency is a consideration.
Workflow and User Interface
Drumformer includes a preset manager to save and recall settings, plus undo/redo history and A/B comparisons for quickly evaluating different processing alternatives. Contextual hint messages assist new users by explaining controls as they hover over them. The interface is designed to streamline experimentation, allowing rapid switching between broadband and multiband modes while retaining per-band settings.
For drum mixing, the gate can be used to tighten live drum tracks, while the compressor-expander and saturation sculpt the attack and tone of each band. On master tracks, the clipper and spectrum analyzer facilitate transparent limiting and monitoring. The routing flexibility supports parallel processing and mid/side techniques, making it a versatile tool in both corrective and creative scenarios.
Practical Applications
In a drum group context, Drumformer can process overheads, room mics, or a full kit bus, using the gate to remove bleed and the multiband compressor to glue the kit. The saturation adds harmonics to improve presence without excessive volume. For master tracks, the broadband mode with clipper can emulate analog tape or console saturation, while the EQ helps correct frequency imbalances.
The external side-chain proves useful for creating side-chain pumping effects on synths or bass, keyed by the kick drum. The mid/side processing allows widening or tightening the stereo image of drums or a full mix. With its comprehensive feature set, the plug-in supports a wide range of dynamics processing ideas, from subtle tracking to aggressive master bus treatment.
