PSP AuralControl — Free Download
PSP AuralControl is a multichannel audio plugin for adjusting level, polarity, bandwidth, and timing per channel. It supports tracking, mixing, and mastering in surround formats.

Purpose
PSP AuralControl addresses common issues in multichannel audio production. It allows individual adjustment of level, polarity, bandwidth, and delay for each channel within a surround set, helping to fix imbalances in stems, reverb tracks, or spatial placements. The interface presents all controls on a single screen, with predefined industry-standard formats ranging from stereo to 7.1.2, and grouping capability to streamline workflow.
Designed by PSP, this plugin is available as an AAX version for Pro Tools, with AU and VST3 formats planned for release later in the year. It is intended as a practical tool for engineers working on film, music, or broadcast projects that require precise control over multichannel mixes without resorting to complex routing or multiple plugins.
Key Capabilities
The plugin provides level faders with peak meters for every channel, along with mute and solo buttons, enabling quick monitoring and gain staging on multichannel buses. Each channel includes adjustable high-pass and low-pass filters, as well as a delay section, allowing for time alignment and bandwidth shaping across the entire surround field.
Parameters can be controlled individually, in predefined groups, or in custom groups, with support for relative or reversed linking. Reversed linking, for example, lets you bring up front levels while reducing rear levels simultaneously, which is useful for dynamic adjustments. This design simplifies tasks like rolling off the LFE, adding air to top speakers, or balancing front and rear content.
Workflow
In practice, PSP AuralControl excels at re-balancing multichannel stems. For instance, you can mute or solo specific channels on a reverb send to check side content, or reduce the LFE level on effect sends. The filters allow you to roll off low frequencies from the LFE or apply a high-pass filter to top speakers, leaving only high-frequency ‘air’.
For advanced effects, the delay section enables setting unique pre-delays per channel group, which can be used to create a ‘big monophonic reverb’ when combined with a multi-mono instance of a delay plugin like PSP 2445 on a multichannel send. This workflow permits crafting full-sounding reverb with distinct frequency ranges and levels for fronts, rears, sides, and tops.
Practical Applications
Typical uses include re-balancing live stems, monitoring multichannel buses with peak meters and solo/mute functions, and gain staging for effect sends. The plugin is also suited for advanced level riding with automation, where you can record fader moves with relative or reversed linking across groups.
For stereo tracks, it provides Mid-Side processing capabilities, allowing you to adjust the mid and side components independently. This makes it a versatile tool for mastering stereo mixes as well, though its primary strength lies in multichannel formats. Whether you are correcting timing issues in the center channel relative to left and right, or managing spectral content across speakers, AuralControl offers a straightforward solution.
