Celemony Melodyne 5 Editor Update from 4 or older Editor — Free Download
An upgrade for registered Melodyne Editor users, bringing advanced vocal editing, polyphonic pitch correction via DNA, chord recognition, and dynamic tools.

Purpose and Scope
This product is an upgrade path for owners of any previous version of Melodyne Editor. It grants access to Melodyne 5 Editor, which retains the professional vocal editing capabilities and the DNA algorithm for polyphonic audio. As an Editor edition, it is positioned for detailed work on vocals, instruments, and samples within a host or standalone.
The upgrade requires a registered copy of Melodyne Editor in your Celemony account. It is not a standalone license, so it only functions as an upgrade for existing Editor users. This edition focuses on comprehensive editing rather than basic pitch correction, catering to producers and sound engineers who need deep control over audio material.
Key Capabilities for Vocals
The new Melodic algorithm enhances vocal editing by separating pitched components from noise-like elements like sibilants and breaths. This separation allows automatic handling of consonants during pitch and timing changes, preserving natural vocal behavior without manual isolation. The Sibilant Tool can attenuate, mute, emphasize, or isolate sibilants, acting as a precise de-esser.
Pitch corrections now target critical note segments rather than whole notes, based on how human hearing perceives intonation. The offset calculation considers specific moments, so corrections sound natural while keeping performances alive. This improves the pitch offset display and macro behavior, reducing the need for manual adjustments and yielding more musical results.
Chord and Dynamics Workflows
Melodyne 5 introduces a Chord Track linked to the Pitch Grid, enabling quick note adaptation to chords. Chord recognition analyzes tracks separately or as a full mix to fill the track automatically, making it easy to align samples or vocal harmonies to a song’s harmonic structure. This is useful for producers working with chord progressions.
The Fade Tool allows note-based fades, even within polyphonic recordings, preserving fades when notes are moved or copied. The Leveling Macro adjusts volume disparities, raising quiet notes or lowering loud ones in polyphonic material. These tools provide dynamic control previously unavailable, enhancing mix balancing and creative expression in dense arrangements.
Additional Improvements and Usability
A new Percussive Pitched algorithm suits instruments like tabla, berimbau, or 808 kicks that have pitch despite a percussive character. An option for a Robust Pitch Curve improves editing for signals with heavy reverberation by smoothing the pitch curve. The Complex playback type now offers formant flexibility similar to Tonal.
Workflow enhancements include a search function for keyboard shortcuts and improved saving of shortcut sets. Melodyne now stores detection data within audio files instead of separate .mdd files, simplifying file organization and project sharing. These updates streamline the editing process, reducing clutter and making the tool more efficient for daily use.
