UBERBASS is a bass enhancer plugin that generates and shapes harmonics around a user-selected frequency, adding weight and character to music, sound design, and post-production material.

Purpose and Core Philosophy

UBERBASS by BOOM Library is a bass enhancement effect designed to add audible low-end character to any source without simply turning up the volume. It generates harmonic content with a resonant focus around a user-defined frequency, then shapes that content through dedicated drive and gating stages before blending it back with the original signal.

The main BOOST control determines the amount of generated low-end effect applied, ranging from subtle reinforcement to a heavily saturated, room-shaking presence. This central knob is supported by complementary controls that sculpt the effect’s character, ensuring the result remains musical and controllable rather than just louder.

Key Shaping Controls

The FREQUENCY control sets the exact target pitch for the generated harmonics, adjustable in Hertz or by musical note spans from E0 to B2. The Q-FACTOR narrows or widens the focus around this frequency, allowing surgical precision on a kick drum fundamental or a broad application for an entire mix bus. INTENSITY sets the strength of the effect, from subtle to heavily processed.

DRIVE adds harmonic saturation that pushes the low end from clean sub reinforcement to an aggressive, saturated character, making it audible on small playback systems. A dedicated stage doubles the drive amount for extreme distortion. The LOW CUT filter removes rumble from the entire signal ahead of the dry/wet blend, cleaning up even pre-existing low-frequency noise.

Dynamic Control and Workflow

The built-in gate keeps the effect from activating during quiet passages, preventing unwanted low-end hum. Controls for threshold, attack, release, and ratio allow precise shaping of the effect’s dynamic response to the input—from tight and percussive to a longer, evolving tail. This is essential for material with dynamic variation.

The plugin supports up to four-times oversampling to reduce aliasing during heavy drive. It operates with zero latency when lookahead is disabled, and ten milliseconds with it enabled. The latency figure is a documented parameter; actual performance can vary based on the host system and project load.

Practical Applications and Integration

Typical use cases include broadening the Q-FACTOR on a mix bus to add consistent presence, giving snare drums and percussion a solid body, or adding sub-weight to kicks, basslines, impacts, and explosions. It also adds mass to mechanical sounds like latches and weapon handling, and provides weight to vocals, voiceovers, and animal recordings.

For film, TV, and game scores, UBERBASS helps low end hold up on dynamic material. It is available in VST 3, AU, AAX Native, and AudioSuite formats, and is native on Apple Silicon. As an NKS-ready plugin, it integrates well with Komplete Kontrol hardware and software for tactile control and preset browsing.

Key features

  • Single BOOST knob controls the full added low-end effect
  • FREQUENCY adjusts target pitch in Hertz or musical notes (E0–B2)
  • Q-FACTOR narrows or widens effect focus
  • DRIVE adds harmonic saturation with an extreme doubling stage
  • Built-in gate with threshold, attack, release, and ratio controls
  • LOW CUT removes rumble from the signal
  • Supports 4x oversampling and zero latency mode

Best for

Best suited for sound designers, music producers, and post-production engineers who need to add aggressive sub-bass character to individual elements or a full mix, including sound effects, drums, and film scores.
