PSP StereoPack is a suite of four plug-ins for creating, enhancing, correcting, and analyzing stereo audio, covering mono-to-stereo conversion, spatial improvement, error correction, and visual signal inspection.

PSP StereoPack

Purpose and Collection Overview

PSP StereoPack brings together four processors that address every stage of stereo signal management. The pack includes PSP PseudoStereo, PSP StereoEnhancer, PSP StereoController, and PSP StereoAnalyser. Together, these tools let you create width from mono sources, expand existing stereo images, correct phase and balance issues, and visually assess the stereo field. This makes the bundle suitable for working with individual tracks, full mixes, or archival material that needs restoration.

Each plug-in has a focused role, but they complement one another in a production chain. You might start with a mono track and give it space using PseudoStereo, then refine the width and center image with StereoEnhancer and StereoController. Finally, StereoAnalyser can confirm that the result is phase-coherent and well balanced. The suite is designed for use in recording, mixing, mastering, and re-mastering contexts.

Key Capabilities and Processing

PSP PseudoStereo converts mono signals into stereo by simulating the characteristics of a microphone pair recording. This adds depth and a natural spatial impression, which is especially useful for MIDI percussion that needs a livelier, more expansive sound. The plug-in offers a wide range of effects and includes visualization of the stereo-to-mono ratio, plus an emphasis control for transients in the processor chain.

PSP StereoEnhancer improves the spatial quality of existing stereo tracks. It provides three processor operation modes so you can adapt the effect to different material, from subtle widening to more dramatic expansion. The plug-in is effective on acoustic instruments, poorly recorded stereo files, and new masters. It includes mono compatibility visualization to help you avoid phase issues, along with a presets library for quick starting points.

Correction and Analysis Tools

PSP StereoController focuses on fixing common stereo errors, such as reversed signal phase or swapped channels. It also allows for subtle adjustments to the stereo image without degrading tonal balance or mono compatibility. You can independently control the differential signal level, adjust channel balance, and modify the stability of the left and right channels while keeping the center position fixed.

PSP StereoAnalyser measures and evaluates stereo signal correctness. It includes a stereo oscilloscope with a hold option and automatic or manual level adjustment, which helps reveal phase errors and channel imbalance. The plug-in also provides level meters for L/R or M/S modes, with mean, peak, and peak hold displays.

Workflow and Practical Applications

A typical workflow might begin with PseudoStereo on a mono drum loop to create width and impact. After that, StereoEnhancer can add depth to acoustic guitar or vocal tracks, giving them a more three-dimensional presence in the mix. When preparing a master, StereoController can correct any small phase or balance issues that may have crept in during tracking or mixing, ensuring the final stereo image is stable.

StereoAnalyser is best used as a monitoring tool throughout the process. By observing the oscilloscope and level meters, you can spot potential problems early, such as out-of-phase elements that might collapse in mono. This suite excels in re-mastering mono recordings into stereo, enhancing archival stereo tracks, and giving MIDI-based productions a more natural, spacious feel.

Key features

  • Mono-to-stereo conversion with spatial depth simulation
  • Three-mode spatial enhancement for stereo tracks
  • Stereo error correction with phase and channel controls
  • Stereo oscilloscope and L/R or M/S level meters
  • Visualization of stereo-to-mono ratio and compatibility
  • Transient emphasis control in PseudoStereo
  • Presets library included

Best for

Ideal for producers and engineers working with mono sources that need stereo width, such as MIDI drums, or for mastering engineers correcting phase and balance issues in existing stereo tracks. Also suitable for re-mastering mono recordings and improving the spatial quality of archival material.
