Audio Modeling SWAM Saxophones V3 — Free Download
SWAM Saxophones V3 is a physically modeled collection of soprano, alto, tenor, and baritone saxophones with real-time expressive controls and an integrated room simulator for immersive orchestral placement.

Core Purpose
SWAM Saxophones V3 provides four physically modeled saxophones—soprano, alto, tenor, and baritone—forming a complete saxophone quartet. The instruments use proprietary SWAM-W technology combining physical modeling, behavioral modeling, and sample morphing to produce organic, expressive sound without sample libraries. This approach allows for continuous real-time variation, making each performance unique and responsive.
The new version improves sound behavior and renews the user experience compared to the previous Solo Woodwinds v2 desktop edition. It supports standalone operation, VST3, and NKS, and includes preset management and extensive MIDI mapping. Ready-to-use MIDI presets for expressive controllers and Bluetooth MIDI support are built in, ensuring flexible integration into various setups.
Key Capabilities
The instrument features a wide range of real-time performance controls that can be triggered from a MIDI controller or your DAW. These include expression (dynamics), note transitions like staccato, legato, and portamento without keyswitches, legato mode selection, vibrato depth and rate, portamento time, harmonic structure, sub-harmonics, growl, flutter tongue, formant, breath noise, key noise, dynamic pitch, overblow, and microtuning. Main volume, pan, and reverb mix are also controllable.
New in V3 are sound parameters such as alternative fingering, timbral correction, EQ, early reflection amount, and improved microtuning presets including MAQAM support. Accessibility features are enhanced to support blind and visually impaired users, making the instrument easier to navigate. A standing wave visualization is also included for visual feedback.
Workflow and Integration
The renewed user experience simplifies navigation and preset management, allowing you to quickly load and adjust sounds. Extensive MIDI mapping lets you assign expressive controls to your preferred external hardware, and the included MIDI presets for several expressive controllers reduce setup time. Bluetooth MIDI support enables wireless connection to compatible devices, adding flexibility for live or studio use.
For placement, the built-in Ambiente room simulator lets you position each saxophone in a shared virtual space, with customizable rooms, adjustable stereo mic distance, and a close mic option for use with external spatializers or reverbs. This ensures a consistent acoustic environment across all instruments in the SWAM ecosystem, facilitating cohesive mixing.
Practical Applications
The saxophones suit composers and producers needing realistic, melodic woodwind lines in jazz, classical, film scoring, and pop production. The quartet is ideal for creating authentic sax section textures, while individual instruments allow for expressive solo performances. The lack of keyswitches for articulation transitions makes live performance intuitive, as you can naturally play legato or staccato by touch.
With real-time control of growl, flutter tongue, and breath noise, you can emulate expressive techniques like jazz vibrato or aggressive overblowing. The room simulator helps you place the saxes in a realistic acoustic space, enhancing orchestral mockups. For accessibility, the interface supports visually impaired musicians, making it a versatile choice for inclusive music creation.
