Purpose

Cosmic Parrot Echo V2 is a creative delay designed to bring character and movement to your sound. It blends warm vintage tape repeats with worn-tape instability and spring reverb splash, making it ideal when you need a retro, organic vibe rather than pristine digital echoes. The delay offers two distinct tape modes: America, which delivers a warmer, looser voice, and Japan, which is tighter and cleaner.

An onboard spring reverb adds a splashy ambience that can be mixed with the delay, while dedicated Low and High cut filters shape the repeats to sit naturally under the source signal. A Blend control enables instant parallel processing, and Smart Gain with Link Gain simplifies level matching, ensuring the effect integrates smoothly into your mix. This is a playful yet functional tool for adding vintage texture to any track.

Key Capabilities

The delay time can be set freely or locked to your session tempo using Sync, with Feedback and Width controls ranging from tight mono slapbacks to wide stereo trails. The Wobble control introduces unstable, drifting tape movement, letting you create psychedelic, evolving echoes. Battery emulation drains the voltage to produce worn, unstable, extra-vintage grit, adding a unique tape-age character.

A/B compare mode and a short-term LUFS readout help you evaluate levels, while a new oversampling algorithm ensures cleaner processing in demanding situations. These features combine to give you a flexible delay that can be subtle or extreme, always with a vintage personality.

Workflow

In practice, you can start by selecting your preferred tape mode—America for a loose, warm feel, or Japan for tighter, cleaner repeats. Set the Delay Time with Sync enabled to lock to your project tempo, or go free for more experimental timing. Use Feedback and Width to dial in the desired character, from slapback to wide, immersive echoes.

The Blend control allows you to mix the wet and dry signals in parallel, while Smart Gain and Link Gain simplify leveling, so you can audition delays without sudden volume jumps. Use the A/B compare to find your ideal setting, and rely on the LUFS readout to monitor levels. This workflow is suited for sound design, mixing, and performance, letting you shape delays quickly with immediate visual feedback.

Practical Applications

Cosmic Parrot Echo V2 shines on guitars, synths, vocals, and drums whenever a vintage tape vibe is desired. For a classic rock or indie guitar sound, use the America mode with moderate feedback and a subtle wobble for warm, trailing repeats. On synths, Japan mode with sync and wide width creates dreamy, rhythmic delays that fit into electronic or ambient genres.

When you need unstable, psychedelic trails, crank the Wobble and battery emulation for worn, wobbling sounds that evolve over time. The low/high cut filters are handy for shaping the repeats to sit behind the source, making it useful in dense mixes. This delay is especially effective for adding character to otherwise digital-sounding productions, giving tracks a warm, organic feel that recalls analog tape machines.
