AKAI Raw Cutz — Free Download

Purpose and Origin

This expansion delivers a broad palette of Hip-H Hop sounds from the production duo Raw Cutz, known for high-quality sample content. It is designed to bring the genre’s authentic essence to your MPC workflow. The collection focuses on providing raw, inspiring building blocks rather than finished tracks, allowing you to shape your own sound.

The sounds are grouped into kits and multis that reflect the golden era style, including loose rhythms, warm pads, sub-heavy basslines, soulful chops, and sampled drum hits. The ‘pre-worn’ sonic treatment gives a vintage, analog feel that is hard to achieve with modern gear alone. This makes the pack useful for producers seeking classic textures without needing rare or expensive hardware.

Key Capabilities

The expansion features a substantial library of one-shot samples and stabs, covering instruments like Rhodes, bass, strings, vinyl, and keys. These are organized into MPC drum kits, multi kits, and sequences, giving you ready-to-use setups for immediate beat-making. The volume and variety ensure you can find inspiration quickly, whether you need a crunchy snare, a jazzy chord, or a melodic stab.

The 46 drum kits provide a wide range of percussive options, while the 11 multi kits allow for layered arrangements. The 33 sequences offer pre-built patterns that can be manipulated or used as starting points. All samples are royalty-free, so you can use them in commercial projects without additional clearance.

Workflow Integration

Integration is designed for Akai Professional MPC hardware, including models like MPC Touch, Live, X, Renaissance, and Element, as well as MPK2 and MPD2 controllers. The packs are formatted to load directly into these devices, allowing you to browse and audition sounds within your existing setup. You can trigger kits from pads, arrange sequences, and apply effects as you normally would.

The workflow encourages chopping, twisting, and manipulating the samples. You can slice drum hits to create new patterns, transpose stabs to fit your chord progressions, and layer elements from different kits. The loosely quantized rhythms and musical melodies are meant to be moved, so you can deconstruct them to build your own unique tracks.

Practical Applications

This collection shines in Golden Era Hip-Hop production, but its scope extends to House, warped beats, progressive Drum and Bass, and Ambient music. The warm pads and soulful chords work well for mellow tracks, while the crunchy snares and sub-heavy basslines drive upbeat rhythms. The included sequences can be used as templates for song structure or inspiration.

For producers, the value lies in the authenticity of the raw material. Instead of spending time recreating vintage tones, you can focus on arrangement and creativity. Whether you are building a beat from scratch or looking for a unique texture, the pack offers a quick path to a polished, classic sound. This is an ideal resource for beatmakers and composers working in sampled-based genres.
