Moog MF-104S Analog Delay — Free Download
The MF-104S Analog Delay meticulously recreates Moog’s classic analog delay with warm, organic texture, adding modern stereo, CV, and preset flexibility for contemporary creators.

Purpose and Character
The MF-104S Analog Delay is a plug-in recreation of Moog’s classic MF-104 analog effects pedal, originally introduced in 2000. It captures the warm, organic texture and character of the original analog delay circuitry while adding modern flexibility. Designed by Bob Moog and his team, the MF-104 was a direct descendant of Moog modular synthesizers, adapted to process guitar, voice, synthesizers, or any audio source.
This plug-in brings the classic sound into the digital domain with stereo functionality, CV interconnectivity, presets, and the ability to run multiple instances. It retains the lush, all-analog character that made the original sought after, while offering extended features that tailor it to modern music production workflows.
Key Capabilities
The MF-104S offers a dual-range Bucket Brigade Device (BBD) that provides a wide range of delay times, from short to long, with the original’s characteristic warmth. A multi-waveform LFO allows extensive time modulation, and newer versions of the hardware (and this plug-in) support tempo synchronization for rhythmic precision.
Unique plug-in features include a TYPE switch that selects between normal stereo echo or a ping-pong bouncing stereo delay. The TONE control affects EQ, filtering, and grittiness of the delayed signal with Legacy, Analog, and Modern settings. TIMING can preserve tight digital timing or introduce loose timing instabilities, and FEEDBACK MODE reroutes feedback through the entire effect or only the delay line to preserve input sonic characteristics.
Workflow and Integration
The MF-104S provides CV inputs for Delay Time, Feedback, LFO Rate, LFO Amount, and Mix, with the ability to attenuate or soften these modulations. This allows deep integration with other Moogerfooger plug-ins or any modular-style setup, enabling complex, evolving soundscapes.
Presets offer instant recall of classic and experimental settings, making it easy to audition sounds and fit them into a mix. Running multiple instances enables creative routing, such as parallel delays or series effects chains, without hardware limitations.
Practical Applications and Sound Design
Suitable for a wide range of audio sources, the MF-104S excels at adding depth and movement to guitar, vocals, synths, and drums. The ping-pong mode creates wide stereo interest for atmospheric pads or rhythmic delays, while the tone settings allow everything from dark, smoky echoes to brighter, edged repeats.
The timing instability and feedback mode options are ideal for experimental sound design, from subtle tape-like wobble to chaotic self-oscillation. With CV modulation, you can create dynamic filter sweeps or tempo-synced rhythmic patterns. The included sample collection by synthesist Lisa Bella Donna demonstrates a range of sounds for inspiration.
