It is a self-contained virtual instrument, so you do not need additional sample players or proprietary software. Three continuously variable oscillators form the core. The sweep oscillator controls direction and progression with volume, frequency, and shape controls. The noise oscillator adds texture like grit or hiss, and the chord oscillator can match your song’s key for musical blends. Three LFOs add modulation: a tempo-synced LFO aligns with your DAW’s tempo, a free-running LFO operates independently, and the Pumper effect creates pulsating dynamics.
The effects section includes a tempo-synced delay, four adjustable reverb types, and panning and width controls for stereo positioning. Over twenty filter types, from low-pass to phase shift, further shape the sound. A randomizer generates new patches, and Invert mode reverses the transition direction, turning rises into falls, which helps create complementary variations.
Workflow
In your DAW, The Riser loads as a standard instrument. You can start from a preset and edit its parameters, or build from scratch. The graphical display shows the sweep direction and progression. Use the randomizer for a quick creative spark, or Invert to hear a reversed version. Swap applies the inversion to your current patch.
MIDI-learn lets you assign any knob or fader to your controller for hands-on tweaking. The instrument is widely compatible with major DAWs and formats, but requires a host since it is an instrument. Starting with a preset and then adjusting the oscillator shapes and filters gives you a fast path to a unique transition.
